Welcome to my little corner of the blogging world, somewhere southern. Here you will find the puzzle pieces of my twenty-something life as a wife, lifelong student, fashion-lover, daughter of God, and writer. I’m also a bit health-nutty and attempt to cook every now and then.

More about the somewhere southern bloggeress…

I live in the south, where I grew up on the banks of a picturesque lake. While I’ve attempted a few escapes, I cannot seem to pull myself away from the rural life. In the fall of 2007, I vowed to eternally love, cherish, put up with, and laugh at my husband. Or something like that. Currently, our family is completed by our little munchkin dog/son, Morrison. He is terribly spoiled and believes himself to be the head of the household.

God has been taking me on an interesting and unexpected journey the past year or so. I’ve long been an ivory-tower-of-academics kind of girl (e.g., graduate school = some of the best years of my life), and I never considered that I would be anything less than a successful career-woman. After earning my Master’s degree in clinical psychology and practicing as a therapist for less than a year, though, I knew it was time for an upheaval in my life. I quit, which is about the most distressing and embarrassing action a chronic overachiever can take. A year later, I could not be more excited about my life. I’m learning that God does not need me to create a step-by-step plan for Him demonstrating how my life should unfold. Who would have thought?

Random facts: I buy jewelry and art when I travel, look just like my mom, crave live music, and adore flea markets. I fell in love with both fashion and writing early on in life. Recently, I’ve taken to cooking in an effort to rehabilitate my unhealthy, diet-obsessed ways with food.

I’m also into sharing and laughing, which is where the blogging shenanigans come in. Take a look around, comment, disagree, email, whatever strikes your fancy. I can always be contacted at somewheresouthern {at} gmail.com.

As always, thanks for reading and lots of love from the South,

One more picture because I’m a silly, obsessive parent.

  1. I couldn’t find an email address for you here on your blog, so I’m leaving a comment here. A few Kentucky food bloggers are putting a group together to be able to connect with each other on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/home.php?sk=group_154501454604863&ap=1. Feel free to join! (I saw that you listed Kentucky as your hometown on Foodbuzz…)

Eventually, we’ll have a fan page for all of us (with links to our blogs), but we’re just trying to get the group together now to see who is interested and to touch base with each other. We’d love to have you!
