wedges for all

If there is a shoe of the season, it is absolutely the platform. My seventies loving soul, as well as my short legs, is rejoicing. In fact, while over 6 inches of snow was piling up in our yard last week, I was researching sandals. While platforms come in both wedge and heel varieties, I lean heavily toward the wedge side. They’re easier to walk in. They’re more versatile. And you’re less likely to look to like you’re working a street corner. Just sayin’. Here’s a report on the best platform wedges of the spring.

Fashion Inspiration/If I Had a Money Tree:

Sergio Rossi, $495 (shopbop).

Woven Leather Wedge Sandals by Bottega Veneta, $1050 (Saks). And yes, you read that correctly.

Cube Platform Wedge Sandals by Jimmy Choo, $825 (Saks).

Woven Leather Wedge Sandals by House of Harlow 1960, $240 (Saks).

Around $100 (all from Piperlime):

Illy by Boutique 9, $140.

Kowloon by Jessica Simpson, $79.

Bottos by Nine West, $99.

Cheaper Than Lunch:

Pandora Wedge Sandal by Fioni, $26.99 (Payless).

Rope Wedge Sandals by Dolce Vita for Target, $29.99.

See, there’s love for everyone. I actually purchased the Payless pair last week during a buy one, get one half off promotion. They lack nothing in cuteness, but I am a bit anxious to see how they hold up to repetitive wear. It may be worth investing in a genuine leather pair by the summer. We’ll see.
